Typical applications
The CompreCell DP is the ideal solution for the layer-by-layer assembly of solid-state batteries and allows for studying them in a 2- or 3-electrode configuration at different stack pressures and temperatures:
Cycling of solid-state batteries under active stack pressure and temperature control
Pressure- and temperature-dependent investigation of a solid-state electrolyte’s conductivity
Stripping-plating experiments under actively controlled stack pressure

Detailed Description
The next generation of solid-state battery test cells – the CompreCell DP: The CompreCell DP is a measuring cell designed for use with the CompreDrive or CompreFrame. It is airtight (helium-leakage tested over complete accessible temperature range) and can therefore be used to handle sensitive samples by filling the cell in a glovebox under inert gas atmosphere and then measuring it outside.
The CompreCell DP is a measurement cell suitable for measuring multilayer stacks of solid samples, like all-solid-state batteries, under active pressure control. It is also suitable for powdered samples and allows e.g. pelletizing in-situ.
An intuitive design facilitates the layer-by-layer assembly of an all-solid-state battery starting from the separate component materials: Both hard metal plungers in the cell can move independently and therefore apply pressure to a stack at a fixed position in the inner sleeve. This allows for measuring sample stacks that are sensitive to vertical movement and minimizes the risk of cracking and short-circuits through the layers.
As sleeve material, AlOx, PEI, and PEEK are available. The fixed location of the sample also facilitates the use of a solid-state reference electrode for 3-electrode measurements. We could provide a version for 6 mm diameter samples (CompreCell 6-DP), 10 mm diameter samples (CompreCell 10-DP), and 12 mm diameter samples (CompreCell 12-DP). The CompreCell 6-DP can only be operated in 2-electrode configuration due to limited space.
