Microcell HC

A test cell fixture based on a modular concept which can be used to control the sample temperature.

Benefit from this test cell fixture to reach improved reproducibility due to high level of temperature accuracy and high level of automation.

  • Quick change between different test cells
  • Broad accessible temperature range
  • Precise and fast heating and cooling based on Peltier-element technique
  • No temperature overshooting
  • Automated temperature control as part of electrochemical measuring routines

Typical applications

The Microcell HC Basic Package has been designed to operate with the test cells of the “TSC” product line and thus opens up a broad range of different applications, like:

  • Determination of the temperature-dependent conductivity of liquid, gel-like, polymeric, and solid electrolytes

  • Performing temperature-dependent cyclic voltammetry measurements

  • Charging/discharging of batteries and supercaps at different temperatures

Detailed Description

The Microcell HC Basic package consists of a temperature controller unit and a cell fixture plus cables and other required or helpful accessories. The cell fixture is compatible with all test cells with prefix “TSC” and can be used to electrically contact the test cell’s base unit and cap and to set and actively control the test cell’s temperature.

To that end, the cell fixture contains a Peltier element that is used to heat or cool the test cell being placed on top of it. The communication with the temperature controller unit can be embedded in routine electrochemical procedures in case of most potentiostat brands and models, either using serial connectivity (RS232) or analog in/out signals (on demand, the MultiSourceBox might be required).

By embedding the temperature setting and reading step into electrochemical procedures, a high level of automation can be achieved. The test cell fixture can be used outside or inside of a glovebox. When being used inside of a glovebox, a cable-feedthrough is required (available from us) and the temperature controller is placed outside.

  • Line voltage:

Uac, rms = 100 to 230 V

  • Accessible temperature range during operation (measuring cell):

Toperation/cell = -40 °C to +100 °C*

*The low-temperature limit is affected by the ambient conditions (condensing or non-condensing) as well as by the measuring cell type used for the studies. The high-temperature limit is set to +100 °C by default. To achieve the temperature limits in some ambient conditions, the rhd Cooling Box may be required.

  • Temperature range during operation (ambient):

Toperation/ambient = +10 °C to +40 °C

  • Temperature range for storage:

Tstorage = +10 °C to +30 °C

  • Relative humidity range during operation and storage (non-condensing):

0 to 100%

  • Atmosphere during storage:

non-corrosive

  • Max. voltage applied to electrodes (measuring cells):

Udc, max = +/-30 V; Uac, max = 30 V

  • Max. relative pressure applied to closed measuring cells:

pmax = 5 bar

  • Total weight (Microcell HC cell stand, temperature controller, connecting cables):

mtotal = 5 kg

  • Size temperature controller:

27 cm x 18.5 cm x 16 cm (L x W x H)

  • Rated dimensions (Controller):

14.0 cm x 10.6 cm x 6.0 cm (L x W x H)

*The max. force might be limited by the selected force sensor and the chosen test cell.

**The accessible range is limited by the coupled thermostat.

  • Art. No.:
