All-Solid-State Battery Testing up to 407 MPa using the CompreFrame

All-in-one Solid Electrolyte Test Cell

With the new CompreCellDP option for 10 mm piston diameter, it’s possible to reach up to 407 MPa in the CompreFrame (32 kN). Since this is enough to fully densify many solid electrolytes, both the sample preparation and measurement can be done in the CompreCell10DP + CompreFrame setup.

The CompreCellDP can be used both for electrolyte-only measurements, such as determining electrolyte conductivity, and for building multi-layer stacks, such as half- or full cells.

Since the CompreCellDP also has a three-electrode option, a reference electrode can also be incorporated in the cell stack.

In this application note, we demonstrate two- and three-electrode cycling of an NMC|LPSCl|Graphite solid-state battery cell in the CompreCell10DP. The effect of pressure both during and after electrolyte compaction on the cell impedance, as well as the individual electrode impedances, is investigated.
