TSC Raman

Product Description
A closed measuring cell intended for in-situ reflection spectroscopy experiments with potential control. The quartz window exposes the working-electrode surface allowing irradiation from outside.
This makes it ideal for e.g. in-situ Raman spectroscopy and SERS, or irradiation experiments.
Both two and three electrode measurements can be performed by inserting a microreference electrode from the side.
This cell is airtight and thus shielded against atmosphere and can be used with moisture-sensitive or volatile samples.

Suitable other Products
The measuring cell TSC Raman is compatible with the following products:

The measuring cell TSC Raman enables the simultaneous electrochemical and optical characterization of numerous substances solved in organic and inorganic media. As optical methods for example Raman spectroscopy, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) or the characterization of an illuminated sample can be employed. Because the cell can be hermetically sealed by a housing made of PEEK, air sensitive or volatile samples can be studied.

Like all measuring cells being part of the product portfolio of rhd instruments, the measuring cell TSC Raman is compatible with all available cell stands. The polished disc electrode serving as working electrode current collector is pressed against the optical window. In consequence, a very thin and reproducible liquid film is formed on the working electrode, enabling the study of the solid-liquid interface. The usage of a spring furthermore enables the positioning of customer-specific substrates. The spring also ensures not only a proper contact between electrode and substrate, but even by usage of substrates with diverging thicknesses the formation of only a thin liquid film between window and substrate. A gold-plated ring electrode serves as counter electrode. An electrolyte amount of approximately 2.0 ml is required.

Two lateral inlets enable the positioning of metal pseudo reference electrodes or capillary micro-reference electrodes between working and counter electrode. In addition, these inlets also can be used for initial filling of the cell and subsequent insertion of liquids or gas by means of the capillary based filling set .

By default, TSC Raman is provided with a polished electrode made of stainless steel pressed in PEEK (electrochemically active surface 8 mm in diameter). In principle, all materials which can be pressed into PEEK are available, like for instance platinum. For SERS measurements we provide gold or silver disc electrodes with a diameter of 12 mm.

The measuring cell TSC Raman is used for in-situ Raman studies of electrode surfaces. This allows for example a study of dynamic changes in the electrode material structure during charge/discharge cycling of Li-ion-batteries.
